Committee

The programme is managed by the Advanced Artist Diploma Committee, which in turn reports to the Research Degrees Committee.

Remit

  • To maintain oversight of the delivery, planning and monitoring of the programme
  • To contribute to the development of relevant policies
  • To undertake relevant aspects of quality assurance and enhancement including:
    • student recruitment and selection
    • the appointment and the effectiveness of supervisors
    • programme development
    • monitoring, enhancement and review
    • student progress, including formal progress review
    • the appointment of examiners and associated assessment processes
  • To report to the Research Degrees Committee in accordance with the agreed format

Frequency of meetings: four per annum

Membership

  • Head of Advanced Artist Diploma Programme (Convenor)
  • Doctoral Degrees Coordinator
  • A member of staff from the School of Music with significant responsibility for research
  • One current supervisor (performance strand)
  • One current supervisor (opera strand)
  • One or two student representative/s elected by cohort (unreserved business only)

A conflict of interest may arise where the Convenor is also a member of the student’s supervisory team. Under these circumstances the Convenor will withdraw from the role and an alternate chair facilitate the relevant discussions. The same process will be followed in cases where chair’s action is required.

Student members do not participate in discussions concerned with individual student progress.
