Performance A

Ai Portfolio and viva – a portfolio of video recordings totalling 40–50 minutes, negotiated with the principal study teacher(s) and agreed through Student Outcomes, in addition to a viva conducted in person, with the Specialist External Assessor joining remotely where necessary. The viva should address: progress in musical aspects and working practices; knowledge of repertoire; and development of improvisational ability. Assessed holistically on both the video and the viva, by RCS/Scottish Ballet staff and a Specialist External Assessor. 75%

Submission Details

Content

In consultation with your principal study teacher(s), you should select a range of video recordings that will showcase your work throughout the year. These must include company class playing, including barre and centre exercises of varying characters, and repertoire playing in a rehearsal context. It is expected that this will mostly take place at Scottish Ballet. You are also welcome to include recordings of any relevant external professional engagements, including performances.

Format

The videos should be either submitted as private links to an online hosting site, or uploaded to Moodle. They may be edited into a single showreel, or collected together into a playlist. Whichever method you choose, please check that all links are correct and working, and also that the video and audio is correctly synchronised.
